The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has introduced an alternative pathway for 2026 UTME candidates who are struggling to retrieve their updated National Identity Management Commission biodata due to lost phone access.
In a statement published on its official X account, the examination body announced that students who have recently updated their NIMC information but are unable to access their registered phone numbers can now use their email addresses to complete the requery process.
The new service specifically caters to candidates whose updated NIMC records have not reflected in the JAMB database because they no longer control the SIM cards linked to their original registration announced that students who have recently updated their NIMC information but are unable to access their registered phone numbers can
JAMB emphasised that the requery option is only accessible at Professional Registration Centres across Nigeria and cannot be processed through standard Computer Based Test facilities or digital platforms.
Students experiencing this challenge should visit any JAMB Professional Registration Centre with their registration credentials and valid identification documents to access the service.
This intervention is expected to resolve registration bottlenecks for numerous candidates whose biodata corrections remain inaccessible within the JAMB system due to phone number complications.
The development provides crucial support as the 2026 UTME registration period progresses towards its 26th February 2026 closure, which the Board has repeatedly stated will not be extended under any circumstances.
Many candidates who diligently updated their NIMC profiles as required for the examination have found themselves unable to proceed with registration simply because they changed phone numbers or lost their original SIM cards after creating their NIMC accounts.
The Board’s decision to introduce an email based alternative demonstrates practical recognition of authentication challenges that arise when multiple databases must communicate seamlessly during high volume registration exercises.
Candidates affected by this issue are urged to act swiftly and visit their nearest Professional Registration Centre to take advantage of this facility before the registration window closes.
This measure reinforces JAMB’s ongoing efforts to address technical and logistical barriers that could prevent qualified students from registering for the examination despite meeting all substantive requirements.
