Eligibility Criteria for UTME Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration serves as a gateway for Nigerian students aspiring to enter tertiary institutions. To register for UTME, there are certain documents you need to possess. 

1. National Identification Number (NIN)

Unlike the previous years when NIN was not needed for JAMB registration, now you need to have the unique 11 digit number which serves as prove of citizenship. However, its is mandatory for candidates to enrol for NIN in any NIMC enrolment centre before registering for JAMB UTME.

2. O’level Results

O’level results is another vital document needed before registering for JAMB 2026. You must to have at least five (5) O’Level Credit passes, including English Language. Credit in Mathematics is required for science-based and social science programme. Candidates with awaiting results can also register.

3. Programme Eligibility

It is important that candidates check the JAMB Brochure to know the requirements for their chosen programmes before starting the online registration process. You can quickly check the brochure on www.jamb.gov.ng/ibass.

4. JAMB ePIN

You can purchase your ePIN from any authorised outlets like banks, online payment platforms, CBT centres etc. This pin can only be used ones for registration.

5. Recommended Novel

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board is yet to recommended a text for the 2026 examination. This text usually cost N500. You can get the novel from JAMB approved CBT centres in your state.

How to Register for JAMB 2026

Do you have all it takes to register for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination? Kindly follow the step-by-step guide below to register for the examination.

1. First of all, you need to create your JAMB profile code and also purchase your e-pin from any authorised dealer.

2. Visit any accredited CBT centre with the e-PIN and other required documents to begin the online registration. You can also ask for help on how to get the e-PIN at your centre if you are yet to purchase one.

3. Create JAMB profile with your valid email and phone number and take note of your password.

4. After creating your profile, JAMB will send a verification link to your email. Open the mail and click on the link to verify your profile.

5. Start filling your biodata and upload the required documents and your O’level results accordingly. Do not use nick names when filling the registration form. 

6. Print out the Registration Slip after completing your registration. The slip contains your examination schedule and centre. You will be given a CD containing the JAMB syllabus and brochure for free.

CAUTION!!! Candidates are not allowed to apply for both UTME and DE at the same time. Multiply application from a candidate may lead to cancellation of profile.
