The Prince Olawale Cole Maritime Foundation has launched an education initiative providing 200 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board registration slots for young Nigerians aspiring to build careers in the maritime and related sectors.

Officials of the organisation revealed that the JAMB sponsorship programme forms part of activities celebrating the birthday of the foundation’s founder, Prince Olawale Cole, who chairs the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents at Tin Can Island Port.

The foundation explained that the initiative targets young people interested in the maritime industry, aiming to expand educational access and strengthen human capacity development within the country’s blue economy.

According to the organisation, the programme is open to interested members and aspiring entrants into the maritime sector, describing it as part of efforts to celebrate what it characterised as a legacy of visionary leadership and service.

The foundation disclosed that beyond education support, it also conducted a humanitarian outreach to a motherless babies’ home, where donations and gifts were presented to the children during the birthday celebrations.

The gesture, the foundation noted, reflects its commitment to uplifting the less privileged and extending compassion to vulnerable groups in society.

Foundation representatives stated that the combined education and charity programmes also served to honour the leadership of its Tin Can chapter, which operates around Tin Can Island Port. They emphasised that the organisation remains focused on using targeted interventions to inspire young people and build a pipeline of skilled professionals for the maritime industry.

They stressed that through initiatives such as the JAMB sponsorship and community outreach, the POC Maritime Foundation is deepening its investment in education, youth empowerment, and social responsibility, while reinforcing its broader mission of service and sectoral development.

The 200 JAMB slots add to growing efforts by private organisations and individuals across Nigeria to support indigent students during the 2026 UTME registration period, which closes on 26th February 2026.

Such interventions continue to provide critical relief to young Nigerians facing financial barriers to tertiary education, demonstrating the impact of philanthropic support in expanding access to educational opportunities and professional development pathways.
