The Ekiti State Government has eliminated registration costs for 3,400 students seeking to write the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, with the state’s First Lady, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, charging beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture through hard work and outstanding performance.
While speaking at the official launch of the 2026 edition held yesterday in Ado Ekiti, Dr Oyebanji emphasised the administration’s dedication to developing human capital through educational interventions.
She explained that the assistance being provided carries significant expectations, adding that recipients’ achievements would honour their families, advance the state’s progress, and motivate younger children to pursue ambitious goals.
The First Lady disclosed that the state government has maintained an annual procurement and distribution of 3,000 JAMB forms, positioning the programme as one of Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s key strategies for delivering democratic benefits to young people whilst promoting his human capital development priorities.
Speaking at the event, Dr Oyebanji noted that “under the purposeful and visionary leadership of Governor Oyebanji, the government has continued to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to human capital development, with education occupying a central place in its development agenda. This administration has consistently pursued policies and programmes that remove barriers to learning and ensure every child has the opportunity to optimise his or her potential.”
She also characterised the distribution of complimentary JAMB codes for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination as more than just registration assistance, describing it as a deliberate effort to open doors of opportunity and reaffirm the belief that every hardworking and talented Ekiti child deserves a fair chance to pursue higher education.
The Chairperson of the Agency for Adult and Non-Formal Education, Chief Moji Fafure, praised the initiative as compelling evidence of the government’s sensitivity to citizens’ educational ambitions.
Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Tertiary Education, Professor Akeem Azeez, the Head of Service, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi, the Commissioner for Information, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun, and the Commissioner for Education, Dr Bimpe Aderiye, commended the administration for its sustained assistance to economically disadvantaged students throughout the state.
