Former Councillor Sponsors 500 JAMB Forms in Lagos, Increases Annual Donation

Students in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State have received a significant boost in their pursuit of higher education as Bethel Omoniyi Olulade distributed 500 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board registration forms at Jakande Estate on Thursday.

Olulade, immediate past councillor representing Ward A2 in Amuwo Odofin Local Government, explained that his commitment to supporting young people’s educational aspirations began long before his political career, tracing the initiative back to 2017.

He recalled that the project started with an essay competition themed “Why you deserve a free JAMB form,” originally planned to benefit 30 students, but after reviewing the submissions, he expanded it to 70 forms based on available resources.

The project has grown considerably since then, with the number increasing to 400 forms when he became a councillor in 2021. This year’s expansion to 500 beneficiaries represents another milestone in the programme’s evolution.

Olulade revealed that the initiative receives support from family, friends, and the Anglican Church, enabling the steady growth in beneficiaries over the years.

“We decided to up it to 500 this year, aligning with the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President. Seeing the laudable Students’ Loan programme of the government, I believe the only way to have our youths benefit from it is to allow them to sit for JAMB, pass and get admission into the higher institutions of learning,” Olulade stated.

Speaking about his motivation, Olulade emphasised that witnessing young people succeed drives his continued commitment to educational support.

“Seeing the young ones we motivate and support become successful is what motivates me. I am hoping that someday very soon, we will see the Nigeria of our dreams and see the seeds we sow mature into great oak trees,” he declared.

Mrs Adeola Olakunde, Olulade’s mother, who attended the distribution, testified to her son’s dedication to education, recounting an instance when he quietly provided funds for a student’s West African Examinations Council form after a mother complained about her inability to pay.

Benefiting students expressed appreciation for the gesture, promising to work hard and justify the confidence placed in them by the donors.
