The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has successfully conducted a comprehensive computer-based promotion examination for roughly 6,000 directorate-level officers under the Federal Civil Service Commission (FCSC) on 13th November, 2025 which was on Thursday.
The assessment was held in Abuja while also extending to approved centres in several countries, including the United Kingdom, United States, India and Egypt. Candidates participated in organised batches across JAMB’s CBT centres to maintain seamless coordination throughout the exercise.
Dr. Hussaini Adamu, the Commissioner representing the FCT and Niger on the FCSC, revealed that the opening day of the assessment accommodated about 1,500 candidates across different sessions, noting that the turnout and conduct were impressive.
JAMB provided fully equipped centres featuring functional computer systems, CCTV surveillance and stable power supply to ensure a smooth and transparent examination environment. Reports from the venues described the atmosphere as calm and orderly, with many candidates commending the structure of the process.
Speaking on the initiative, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, highlighted that the shift to the CBT format aims to boost efficiency, curb malpractice and modernise the promotion examination system. He stated that the interface is intuitive enough even for candidates with lesser experience with technology.
The Chairman of the FCSC praised the partnership, calling it a significant milestone in the commission’s effort to reform promotion assessments. He noted that this marks the first full adoption of the CBT approach for director-level evaluations, adding that the success of this phase will shape broader implementation across other ranks in the civil service.
