JAMB Subject Combination for Chemical Engineering 2025/2026

To gain admission into Chemical Engineering, candidates must register for the following four subjects in their JAMB UTME:

  1. English Language or Use-of-English is compulsory for all candidates writing UTME
  2. Mathematics as one of the subjects to combine is critical for solving engineering-related problems
  3. Candidates require Physics for the understanding of the principles of energy and motion in processes
  4. Chemistry being the central to studying reactions and material properties in engineering is also needed

O’Level Requirements for Chemical Engineering

As a Chemical Engineering aspirant, you will only be admitted by JAMB only be meeting all requirements, including possessing a minimum of 5 credits in your SSCE; WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, GCE, or any other equivalent qualification. The minimum credit passes must be in the following subjects;

  1. English Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Physics
  4. Chemistry
  5. One other Science subject (e.g., Biology, Further Mathematics, or Technical Drawing).

The maximum sittings of O’Level which these credits must be obtained is two.

Qualifications for Direct Entry Candidates

Candidates applying via direct entry must meet any of the following qualifications:

  1. A-Level: Passes in Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry.
  2. ND or HND: A diploma in a related engineering or science discipline with a good grade.
  3. B.Sc.: A first degree in a related science or engineering field may also be accepted.

Duration of Chemical Engineering Program 2025

The program typically spans 5 years, leading to a Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree. Graduates often proceed to internships or national service (NYSC) before entering the workforce or both.
