A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Ahmed Raji, has donated a fully equipped 250 seat Computer Based Test centre to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board in Iseyin, Oyo State.
On Wednesday, the legal luminary and philanthropist handed over the facility along with the renovated classrooms and administrative offices at the Raji Oke Esa Memorial Comprehensive High School, Iseyin. The projects were executed through the Raji Oke Esa Foundation.
Receiving the facilities on behalf of JAMB, the Board’s Registrar, Professor Ishaq Oloyede, praised Raji as one of Nigeria’s finest legal minds and his exceptional dedication to educational development.
Professor Oloyede described the donation as more than a charitable gesture, noting that JAMB’s transition from paper-based examinations to computer-based testing had created infrastructural gaps in certain regions. He explained that the centre would bring national examinations closer to candidates in Iseyin and surrounding communities, reduce travel burdens and establish the town as an emerging centre for digital transformation.
The JAMB Registrar also presented a commendation letter from the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, encouraging other Nigerians to follow Raji’s example in supporting educational progress.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Segun Olayiwola, expressed boundless gratitude to the donor. The Governor noted that the intervention complements the state government’s efforts to expand access to quality education and enhance digital infrastructure in secondary and tertiary institutions across Oyo State.
Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, representing Oyo North Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress, commended Raji’s character, highlighting his integrity, values and continuous commitment to uplifting communities through educational initiatives.
The new CBT centre is expected to serve thousands of candidates in Iseyin and neighbouring areas, eliminating the need for students to travel long distances to write the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and other computer-based assessments conducted by JAMB.
The donation reflects growing private sector involvement in addressing Nigeria’s educational infrastructure challenges, particularly in ensuring equitable access to examination facilities across all geographical zones.
